Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this extremely scarce Circa early 1900 Aikin Lambert Straight Cap Black Hard Rubber Eyedropper Filler in the Fine Silver Overlay. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. Extremely rare Aikin Lambert Fountain Pen

Hand cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel along with the 14K Aikin Lambert No. 3 Nib.

This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with the Fine Silver (.999/1000) Art Nouveau Overlay. The end of the barrel is stamped with, "FINE SILVER 999/1000" on the end of the barrel. All the Fine Silver Overlay has been polished to shine brightly. The Slip Cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. There is a monogram in the cartouche area on the barrel with the initials, "HGP". There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber and the Fine Silver overlay appears to be in very good condition. This Aikin Lambert Straight Cap measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 3/4" posted.

This Aikin Lambert Fountain Pen is an Eyedropper Fill type. One unscrews the section and adds ink into the barrel via an eyedropper. I have tested the filling system and the ink flows and works as it was originally intended to.

The Aikin Lambert Fountain Pen has a great No. 3 Nib. The iridium tipping is in very good condition with the point measuring .64mm when measured with digital calipers - a medium nib point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium to triple broad stroke/line. The medium line measures roughly .64mm and will flex to a triple broad stroke/line of 2.00mm with medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Aikin Lambert Fine Silver Fountain Pen is an extremely difficult fountain pen to acquire and an extremely rare pen in Fine Silver overlay. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in Very Fine condition. Certainly, a collector grade Aikin Lambert Fine Silver overlay to add to one's writing arsenal collection.
