Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1st Year Production 1941 Parker 51 Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Dove Gray Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, cap, barrel and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Sterling Silver Cap & Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, blind cap and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Sterling Silver Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The Sterling Silver Cap is lined with has a simple Deco Banding at the lip. The cap is clearly stamped with, "STERLING SILVER MADE IN U.S.A.". The cap has no dings and very little light scratches, way below average considering the age of the cap. The blind cap and Sterling cap have the metal jewels; the bottom is a bit "dinged" (see image), but the top is in excellent condition. The blind cap is faintly stamped, "Parker with the number 1". There are no stress marks or cracks to the barrel, hood or blind cap. The clutch ring gold plating has worn away.

I have tested the Vacumatic filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill full in roughly 6 to 9 presses. It operates as it should and operates smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and writes extremely smooth! The actual 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .69mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with fine to medium stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine/medium line measures at .58mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a first year production pen and is one for the collector cabinet. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.

NOTE: There is no blind cap / barrel / hood discoloration - the reflection off the camera body may give the appearance the color is not matching, but I will assure the color is matching across the pen hood, barrel and blind cap.
