Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Rare and Restored 1939 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid with the Jeweler's Coin Stack cap banding. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Blue Diamond Arrow Clip, Nickel Plated Coin Stacked Jeweler's Cap Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Silver Pearl color is simply beautiful. The cap has the Blue Diamond Arrow Nickel Plated Clip which does not display any wear. The Jeweler's Nickel-Plated cap banding displays no brassing or wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 9 (for 1939) in the 3rd Quarter". The barrel transparency is very good, a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with minor to mild ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

The rarity of this pen lies in the Jeweler's Coin Stacked Cap Banding. These jeweler's cap band fountain pens were only produced for a limit time. These Jeweler's Cap Bands are considered scarce and coveted by collectors.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-16 presses to fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic NIB is 14K Gold with nearly all of the platinum coating lost - it doesn't affect the writing of the nib. The Nib has a fine point that measures .45mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .47mm to .88mm when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes very smooth, such a pleasure to write with. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker Silver Pearl Senior Maxima Fountain Pen with Jeweler's Coin Stack Cap Banding is as good as it can get - the celluloid is vibrant, has the striped jewels, the barrel has very good transparency, the trim is very clean and bright white, and it is a Senior Maxima with the scarce Jeweler's Coin Stacked Cap banding. I would consider this Maxima to easily grade in Excellent Condition and will certainly be a treasured addition to your writing arsenal collection.
