COLLECTOR ALERT: WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE 1941 IMPRINT - Rare Oversize Parker Vac.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Feather Gold Plated Split Arrow Clip, 3-Ring Cap Banding, 14K USA PARKER 2-Tone Nib, and Bottom Tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the Barrel, Cap, and Blind Cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is an Oversize model which measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/4" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with no brassing. The 3-Ring Cap Banding displays no brassing and has a fabulous gold filled color. The top and bottle jewels are striped with both being polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, " GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN USA with date code 0 (for 1940) in the 2nd quarter ". The transparency on the barrel water clear with minor ambering. The other side of the barrel has another imprint that reads, "WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE 1941".
The filling unit on this Parker is known as a "lockdown" filler. It is the proper filling unit for Parker 1st Generation Fountain Pens. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lockdown Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12 to 14 presses to nearly 3/4 full. I have greased the filling unit, so it operates smoothly.
This Oversize Parker Vacumatic has a 14K - 2-Tone Nib that retains nearly all of the Platinum coating. This 14K Parker NIB provides a smooth writing experience. The actual 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .52mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to a medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .54mm and the medium line measures at .80mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection with this pen coming from the Wisconsin Legislature. It has all the high line features, striped jewels, water clear barrel transparency, striped section, and great 2-tone Nib. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent+ Condition. This Oversize Parker Vac is restored and is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
