I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Two Ring Cap Band, bottom jewel tassel and 14K Parker NIB. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, polished and waxed the barrel, cap and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. This cap displays the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip and Two Ring Cap Banding, which display no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and been polished to bring back a beautiful shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker - Parker Vacumatic - Made in U.S.A. with date code for 1940 in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is magnificent, it is nearly water clear and a person can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size, which measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.
The filling unit is a Speedline Filling Pump, which is correct for this year Parker. The Vacumatic Speedline Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly.
The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB with the matching date code to the barrel of the pen, 1940. The iridium is great and creates a wonderful writing experience. The actual writing portion / tip of this 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .71mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating the writing sample in this listing, the Parker NIB writes with an extra fine to double broad stroke. The writing sample provided displays the extra fine line / stroke measuring at .39mm with light pressure and the double broad line measures 1.30mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a fantastic vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Gorgeous Azure Pearl Celluloid. I would consider this in Excellent condition, not that far away from near mint. This Parker is ready to write or add to your writing arsenal collection.
