I have cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the gold-filled Carter's rocker clip, lever arm, and 2-ring barrel banding. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Carter's Fountain Pen is a Streamline model that measures 5 1/8" inches capped and 6 1/4" posted.
The fountain pen cap and barrel are in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This Jade celluloid color is vibrant and displays nearly like the day it left the factory - brilliant and clean jade coloring! The clip on the cap displays brightly with no wear. The 2-Ring Cap Banding displays brightly as well with no gold-filled loss. The gold-filled lever is very clean, displays bright gold filled color and is free from any wear or brassing. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.
I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.
This Carter's INX NIB is a 14K Nib and generates a very nice writing experience with line variation. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Carter Inx NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .54mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Fine to Double Broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .55mm and the double broad measures 1.35mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
Carter was a well-known maker of fountain pen ink, but made fountain pens only for a few years, from the mid-1920s to around the early 1930s. It offered very high-quality pens, highly sought today by those who want top-tier pens by small makers.
This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a very clean and scarce example of the Streamline Jade pattern. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1932 I would consider this Carter to easily grade in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. It is a collector grade that one will rarely find the opportunity to own. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
