Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Near Mint/Mint Restored 1920s L-92 Black Chased Hard Rubber Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

NOTE: The chased on this Moore is in perfect condition. It displays clean and crisply. Additionally, The L-92X with the "X" was designated as a pen with an extra large barrel when compared to the L-92C Model.

Ultrasonically cleaned feed and section. Hand-cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Hand-polished the Gold Filled Clip and Lever Assembly along with the Moore 14K #2 Flexible NIB.

This fountain pen is made of black hard rubber with clean and crisp chasing. The chasing is in a "wave" pattern. The cap is a screw-on type and secures tightly to the barrel. The Gold Filled trim has all been polished to shine brightly and does not display any wear. The hard rubber displays a consistent black coloring from the cap to the barrel. The barrel is clear and crisply stamped with, "LEVER SELF-FILLING THE MOORE PEN COMPANY BOSTON, MASS U.S.A.".  There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Moore Fountain Pen is model L-92X and measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 7" posted. The L-92X with the "X" was designated as a pen with an extra large barrel when compared to the L-92C

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I added a new sac to the pen. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills. The filling mechanism fills the sac as it was originally intended.

This Eisenstadt has a fantastic #2 Stub 14K Nib. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .83mm when measured with digital calipers - a medium nib point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra-fine to double broad line measuring roughly .38mm with light pressure on the horizontal stroke to 1.59mm with medium to firm pressure on the downward strokes when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Namiki Black Ink.

This Moore Chased Hard Rubber Fountain Pen is an uncommon model to find in addition to finding one in this near-perfect condition. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to easily grade in Near Mint to Mint condition. An uncommon example with great color, chasing, clean imprints, and stub nib that would be a fabulous addition to one's writing instrument stable.
