The Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap displays minor wearing of the Gold Filled material on the high point of the ball and the shoulder edges. The gold-filled cap banding is also in very good condition with minimal wear to the top edge of the cap banding. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that light/faint that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG US IDEAL GLOBE PAT OFF FOUNTAIN PEN". There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #55 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 7/8" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a #5 WATERMAN IDEAL Nib Made in the USA. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .71mm when measured with digital calipers - a medium nib. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .59mm and flex up to a double broad line of 1.54mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This antique Waterman #55 Card Red Hard Rubber Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in very fine to excellent condition and certainly a very difficult Waterman Model and color to acquire.
