For your consideration, we are pleased to offer for sale this beautifully restored Circa 1934 Parker Senior Duofold Streamline Fountain Pen in Red Permanite, fitted with a smooth-writing 14K Medium nib. Representing the final evolution of Parker's legendary Duofold line before the arrival of the Vacumatic, the Streamline Duofold remains one of the most desirable American fountain pens of the 1930s. This particular example stands out for its exceptional preservation, vibrant color, and remarkably clean condition.
This fountain pen has been completely disassembled, serviced, and returned to dependable writing condition. The feed and section were ultrasonically cleaned, a new properly sized latex sac installed, and the filling system tested to ensure reliable operation. The cap, barrel, and blind cap have been carefully cleaned, buffed, and polished to enhance and protect the Permanite while preserving the character of this ninety-year-old writing instrument. The gold-filled clip, cap bands, and 14K nib have likewise been hand polished to a brilliant luster.
The condition of this Senior Streamline is exceptional. The cap, barrel, and blind cap are free from chips, cracks, repairs, or other structural issues. Equally impressive is the color preservation. The Red Permanite retains its rich, vibrant appearance with excellent color consistency throughout the pen, a trait seldom encountered on Duofolds of this age. The cap and barrel display outstanding color matching, giving the pen a uniform and highly attractive presentation. There are no monograms, engravings, or personalizations.
The gold-filled Parker clip, stamped "PAT. SEPT. 5-16," remains bright and free from wear. The dual cap bands retain their original gold-filled finish and present beautifully. The barrel imprint remains crisp and highly legible: "GEO. S. PARKER DUOFOLD MADE IN U.S.A. PATENTED"
As a Senior Streamline model, the pen measures approximately 5 1/4 inches capped, 6 3/8 inches posted, and weighs .75 ounces. Its larger proportions provide an excellent balance in hand while retaining the elegant streamlined profile that distinguished these later Duofolds from their earlier flat-top predecessors.
The button-filling system has been restored and tested with water and operates exactly as Parker intended. Filling action is smooth and reliable, making the pen ready for many more decades of use.
Fitted with an original Parker Duofold 14K nib, this example features a Medium point measuring approximately .81mm when checked with digital calipers. On paper, the nib produces a line ranging from approximately .45mm under light pressure to 1.03mm with firmer pressure, offering pleasing natural line variation while maintaining the smooth, dependable writing characteristics for which Parker Duofolds are famous. The writing sample shown in the listing was created using the actual pen offered for sale and dipped in Faber-Castell Cobalt Blue ink.
Among vintage American fountain pens, few models enjoy the iconic status of the Parker Duofold. Finding a Senior Streamline example with vibrant color, strong imprints, excellent trim, and no structural issues has become increasingly difficult. Many have suffered discoloration, cracks, personalization, or heavy wear over the decades. This example has avoided those pitfalls and remains an outstanding survivor from Parker's golden age.
Overall, I would confidently grade this Parker Senior Duofold Streamline in Excellent+ to Near Mint condition. Its exceptional color, strong originality, restored functionality, and outstanding presentation make it equally suitable for the advanced Parker collector or the enthusiast seeking one of the finest examples of the Streamline Duofold available today.
A truly exceptional Parker Senior Duofold—beautifully preserved, expertly restored, and increasingly difficult to find in this remarkable state of preservation.
