I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Major size which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted. The color is gorgeous on this pen - the burgundy pearl just pops
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the Blue Diamond Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip and Chevron Cap Banding. The clip displays to wear or brassing. The chevron cap banding is starting to show little wear along the bottom edge of the banding. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap and barrel and both have been polished for a wonderful shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 2nd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good, albeit with minor ambering - an individual can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits.
This Vacumatic has the Speedline Filling System works perfectly, typically in my tests with water about 8-12 presses to fill full. The Speedline Filling Unit has been greased and operates smoothly. The Speedline Filler is the correct filling unit for this year fountain pen.
Here is where this pen gets even more interesting - the Parker NIB is a 14K split arrow NIB with a full flex stub Nib. The iridium is great and creates a wonderful writing experience. At the breather hole on this nib, it is at the beginning stages of a fissure starting to form - I point this out for clarity sake but will still write without any issue but should be addressed. The 14K Parker NIB has a broad point measuring roughly 1.03mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine to triple broad stroke line. With the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .53mm on the horizontal strokes and the triple broad stroke measured at 2.03mm with medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was completed with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample provided was completed by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a fantastic vintage example of the Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. The color along with this flexible nib really make this Vintage Vac a Standout! I would grade this fine Parker writing instrument at Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
