I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB, and Gold Filled Blind Cap Tassie. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima size that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, with the cap always securing to the barrel. The cap has the Split Arrow Blue Diamond Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding displaying absolutely no brassing. The barrel has very good transparency albeit with mild ambering. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a gorgeous high shine. The blind cap securely fits with the Gold Filled tassie displaying no brassing - the tassie does have a tiny ding on it but is hard to photograph but point it out for clarity sake. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a Date Code 0 (for 1940) in the 4th Quarter". There are no personalization or monograms to either the barrel or cap.
I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12 to 15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly. The Speedline filling system is the correct filling unit for 2nd generation Parker Vacumatics, which this Vac is.
This Parker Vacumatic has the 14K 2-Tone NIB that has nearly all of the platinum plating intact - 99% of it is intact and super difficult to find Senior Maxima nibs like this in this condition! The actual 14K Parker NIB has a Medium point measuring roughly .82mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Medium to Broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .87mm (with light pressure), and the broad stroke measures at 1.06mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was completed by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
This vintage Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid has vibrant coloring that is in Excellent Condition. These Maxima Fountain Pens are increasingly more and more difficult to find, especially in Azure, Emerald, and Burgundy colors. This Parker Senior Maxima is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
