Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1940 Parker Azure Blue Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand polished the gold-filled Blue Diamond clip, chevron cap banding, bottom jewel tassel, and 14K Parker nib. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The color is a rich blue/azure that displays quite well. This cap has the split arrow gold-filled Blue Diamond clip and Chevron Cap banding, which displays no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to bring back a beautiful shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 0 for 1940 in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good and a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with mild ambering. The blind cap securely fits.

This 2nd Generation (1939-1941) Parker Vacumatic has the correct Speedline Filling Unit. The Vacumatic Speedline Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 presses to roughly fill full. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size, which measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB. The iridium is great and creates a smooth writing experience. The actual writing portion/tip of this 14K Parker NIB has a fine/medium point measuring roughly .58mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating the writing sample, this Parker NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke. In the writing sample provided in the listing image the thinnest line measures at .45mm with light pressure and the broad line measured 1.18mm when measured with digital calipers with firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This is a fantastic vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Azure Pearl Celluloid that is in Excellent Condition. Hard Parker Vacumatic to find in a Major size with this color due to a manufacturing run of 18 months that started in mid-1940 - compared to 4+ years for the other colors. I would grade this Parker in Excellent Condition. This Parker is ready to write or add to your writing arsenal collection.
