Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Blue Diamond Arrow Clip, Nickel Plated Cap Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Blue Diamond Arrow Nickel Plated Clip which displays no wear. The Nickel Plated cap banding displays only minor wear. The edging on the blind cap tassie displays some wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 0 (for 1940) in the 2nd Quarter". The barrel transparency is excellent displaying only minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-16 presses to fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic NIB is 14K Gold and has a medium point that measures .74mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .74mm to .90mm when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes smoothly after tuning it. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

The Parker Senior Maxima Fountain Pens are extremely hard to source and have become coveted by collectors. I would consider this Maxima to grade in Very Fine Condition. This Parker Maxima is ready to write or would make for a wonderful addition to your writing arsenal collection.
