Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored First Year Production 1941 Parker 51 Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Cordovan Brown Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, barrel, and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the 1/10 14K Gold Filled Cap, Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap, and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, blind cap, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Gold Filled Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The cap secures to the barrel snugly.

This Gold Filled Cap from Parker is a 1st Year Cap that less common than other Parker 51 caps. The cap patterns consist of two lines, space, two scalloped lines, two lines, repeating all around the caps, and plain cap bands. One can tell the cap is the first year style because the gold content is stamped at the top of the cap, near the clip. The cap is clearly stamped with, "1/10 14K GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.". The cap is in fabulous condition displaying no dents and no loss of gold filled plating - it is in excellent condition. The blind cap and Gold Filled cap have the aluminum jewels both in excellent condition. The blind cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER MADE IN USA with the date code 1 (for 1941) in the 3rd Quarter".

The Parker 51 has the correct Speedline filling unit for a 1st-year model. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 9 to 11 presses. I have greased the Speedline pump and now operates as it was intended to and very smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and has a fine point measuring roughly .49mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine stroke. In the writing sample provided, the extra fine line measures at .41mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a first-year production pen and is one for the collector cabinet. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent+ Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.

NOTE: There is no blind cap/barrel/hood discoloration - the reflection of the camera body may give the appearance the color is not matching, but I will assure the color is matching across the pen hood, barrel, and blind cap.
