Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, hood, collector, breather tube, cap & barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new diaphragm. Hand polished the Gold Filled Diamond Clip, Cap and 14K NIB. Micromesh sanded from 1500 to 12000, polished the barrel and hood with Renaissance Wax and polished the cap to bring back the bright 1/10 16K Gold Filled Plate.
This fountain pen barrel and cap are made with the Buckskin Beige color, which is a high cachet in the double jewel model. The color is consistant from the hood, barrel to the blind cap. The barrel is stamped Parker "51" Made in U.S.A. with date code 5 and 2 dot for a 2nd quarter production in 1945. The imprint on the barrel is clear and easily seen. There are no monograms on the barrel or cap. The cap is stamped with 1/10 16K Gold Filled Made In U.S.A. The clutch ring is two-tone, gold-filled and chrome and looks excellent with the gold fill intact.
The Vacumatic Filling System works wonderfully. 5 to 7 presses and fills completely.
This Parker 51 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The 14K Parker NIB has a Medium point, has the same 1945 Date and measures roughly .56mm, measured with digital calipers.
When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine to medium line and smoothly. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap. There is a tiny mar on the cap just below the arrow clip that measures roughly 3mm by 1mm - I wanted to point it out for transparency sake.
This is an excellent condition vintage Parker 51 Fountain Pen that is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection.
