Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fabulous Restored 1948 Parker 51 Fountain Pen in Cedar Blue Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, cap, barrel, and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the 1/10 16K Gold Filled Cap, Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap, and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, blind cap and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Gold Filled Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The Gold Filled Cap is lined with 4 Clusters of parrel lines. The cap is clearly stamped with, "1/10 16K GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.". The cap has no dings and very little light scratches, way below average considering the age of the cap. The jewel on the top of the cap has been polished to high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped on two lines with, "PARKER 51 MADE IN USA with the date code 8 (for 1948) in the 4th Quarter". There are no stress marks or cracks on the barrel, hood or blind cap. The clutch ring still retains displays nearly all of the gold plating and looks amazing.

I have tested the Vacumatic Filling Mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 6 to 9 presses. I have greased the pump and now operates as it was intended to and very smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and is dated 1948 which mean the barrel and nib are a marriage. This Nib writes extremely smooth - wonderful writing experience! The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke. In the writing sample provided, the fine/medium line measures anywhere from .46mm to .57mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen is near perfect, I would consider this Parker to be in Near Mint to Mint Condition. The restoration that I performed on this Parker 51 could not have turned out any better. This Parker 51 is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.

NOTE: There is no blind cap/barrel/hood discoloration - the reflection off the camera body may give the appearance the color is not matching, but I will assure the color is matching across the pen hood, barrel, and blind cap.
