For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1949 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen in the Midnight Blue Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and is now again in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, and hood. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new, properly sized one. Hand cleaned the Cap & Arrow Clip, Clutch Ring, 14K Parker NIB and the Aerometric Filling Body. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker 51 is fullsize and measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.
This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear/brassing. The cap is a Lustraloy type with no denting - the finish on the cap is like the day it left the factory. The cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER" on the lip of the cap. The barrel is stamped lightly, "Made in U.S.A. with date code 9 (for 1949) in the 1st Quarter". I have tested the Aerometric filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 4 to 7 presses.
The Parker NIB is 14K and writes great with a fine/medium line! The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .62mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine/medium line. In the writing sample provided, the line measures .60mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
This Parker 51 comes with a box and original "How To Fill" literature from Parker. The box is in fine to very fine condition - not perfect but better than most.
This Parker 51 in Midnight Blue is gorgeous and the restoration came out wonderfully. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. It is certainly ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
