Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1953 Parker Candian Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Gold Filled Chevron Cap Banding and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic in the major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The burgundy pearl color is more vibrant on the barrel than the cap.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The split arrow gold filled clip in excellent condition with no gold plate loss. The chevron (///\\\) cap banding is in excellent condition displaying no brassing or wear. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel imprint is stamped with, "MADE IN CANADA PARKER VACUMATIC REG. T.M.S. with the date code 53 (for 1953) in the first quarter". The transparency of the barrel is water clear and one can see easily see through the barrel - hard to find barrel clarity like this. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or barrel.

The Vacumatic Filling System works very well, typically in my tests with water about 7-9 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

The Fountain Pen has a 14K Parker Split Arrow NIB that is semi-flexible and writes very smoothly. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .71mm when measured with digital calipers and creates a smooth writing experience. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a medium to double broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at roughly .60mm and the double broad stroke line measures 1.64mm under medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

I have breathed new life into this Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen for years to come and looks great. Finding a 3rd Generation Burgundy Pearl Vacumatic is harder and harder to find. I would grade this Parker in Excellent Condition with fantastic barrel clarity and burgundy pearl color. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
