Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this 1995 Parker International Duofold Fountain Pen with 14K solid gold Michael Fultz "Moorish Night" pattern overlay. This fountain pen has seen very little use and I consider this Parker Fountain Pen to be in Near Mint Condition. I have disassembled the fountain pen to clean and polish it and it is now back in fabulous writing condition.

NOTE: L. Michael Fultz was a jeweler and pen marker and a giant in the pen collection arena. Fultz received permission from the Parker Pen Company to create his works of art on Parker Duofold pens. The fountain pen in this listing is known as the "MOORISH NIGHT" pattern. Only 18 were made in 14K gold and 88 in sterling silver. These retailed for $695 when they first came out and gold prices were ranging between $290 to $390 during that time. Fultz had this studio in Chicago on North State Street. L. Michael Fultz passed away in 2010.

The base of this fountain pen is a Parker International Duofold made of black acrylic which is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or damage. The overlay is solid 14K gold and referred to as the "Moorish Night" pattern. The 14K gold overlay has been polished to shine brilliantly. There are no dings, dents, repairs, or personalization/monograms to the overlay or pen.

The overlay is stamped on the cap with, "14K, 11/88 (which 11 is the edition number of the pen - remember he only made 18 of these in 14k gold), and LMF/SM (these initials stand for L. Michael Fultz 'LMF' and Stanley Mareclik 'SM' a jeweler that worked for Fultz). The barrel is stamped with 14K and Made In U.S.A.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. This Parker Duofold is an International Size that measures 5 1/4" inches in length capped. 6 1/2" inches posted, and weighs 31.5 grams. This Parker Duofold has a date code stamped of IT for 1995 in the 3rd Quarter date code on the butt-end side of the barrel. Also, the area is stamped with Parker and Made in U.K.

This Parker International has a fabulous "signature" 18K Two-Tone Stub nib. The nib is designated a 94 which is actually a Medium Italic if one wants to get technical but it sure looks like and performs like a stub nib. The 2-tone NIB is in fantastic condition and writes smoothly! The Parker NIB's writing portion (iridium) measures roughly 1.17mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a .41mm extra fine line on the horizontal stroke to a 1.00mm broad line on the vertical strokes with medium pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.

The ink converter is a factory Parker and ready for your ink. I have tested the ink converter and it operates as it should

This Parker Duofold is a masterpiece work of art produced by Fultz and a very scarce example to acquire. Michael Fultz was a stalwart in the history of collecting fountain pens and his Moorish Night pattern example in 14K solid gold is an amazing example that would most certainly be a treasured addition to one's collection.
