For your consideration, we are delighted to present for sale this circa 1996 Waterman Liaison Fountain Pen in the striking Black Cobra pattern, fitted with an 18K gold nib. This is a true time-capsule example—Brand New, New Old Stock, and never inked—preserved in impeccable Mint condition exactly as it left the factory nearly three decades ago.
Introduced in 1994, the Liaison stood as Waterman’s flagship model of the era. Its production run was brief, concluding in 1996, which only heightens its desirability today. With its bold design language, premium construction, and relatively limited availability, the Liaison has earned its place among the most coveted modern Waterman collectibles.
The Black Cobra finish is nothing short of mesmerizing. Crafted from high-quality resin, the cap and barrel display an elegant, scaled pattern that shimmers subtly under light—evoking the refined texture of exotic skin while remaining unmistakably sophisticated. The surfaces are flawless: no cracks, chips, scratches, repairs, or blemishes. No monograms. No distractions. Simply pristine originality.
A rhodium-plated cap band, crisply stamped “WATERMAN PARIS,” anchors the design with classic French refinement. The trim is bright, mirror-like, and free from any wear. The friction-fit cap closes securely and confidently, just as intended.
In hand, the Liaison feels substantial without being heavy—measuring approximately 5 5/8" capped, 6 3/8" posted, and weighing about 1.39 ounces. The balance is superb, offering a writing experience that feels both grounded and elegant.
I have two Waterman Liaison Cobra nib options available:
- Fine nib – approximately 0.58 mm (measured with digital calipers)
- Medium nib – approximately 0.72 mm (measured with digital calipers)
Each nib is crafted in solid 18K gold, remains factory-fresh, and has never been inked—left untouched for the next steward to either preserve or enjoy.
The pen accepts Waterman cartridges or a converter (both included). Each example comes complete with its original Waterman presentation box, Liaison literature, eight Waterman ink cartridges, and an ink converter—offering a full, period-correct package.
As Waterman’s mid-1990s flagship, the Liaison represents a bold chapter in the brand’s modern history. Luxurious, short-lived, and increasingly scarce in unused condition, this Mint New Old Stock example is a magnificent acquisition—whether destined for careful preservation or elevated daily use in a distinguished collection.
