Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Spectacular Circa 1897 Pre-Lucky Curve Parker #6 Black Hard Rubber Eyedropper Filler Taper Cap Fountain Pen with Gold Bands and Chased Dart Pattern on the barrel. This fountain pen is in Mint Condition - a spectacular example that looks to have never seen ink. This Parker Taper Cap came from a Parker Employee's estate collection and is one of the pens that I will be listing.

This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with ornate gold filled barrel bands. The model number is #6 due to having the gold banding - if it didn't have the gold barrel bands then it would be a Model #3. The hard rubber has deep, seemingly untouched by wear, a dart pattern. The Parker Taper Cap displays no wear with a perfectly crisp imprint that reads, "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PENPAT. JUNE 30. 91 JAN 9. 94". The gold filled barrel banding displays no wear and are in perfect condition. The taper cap is a friction fit type and secures tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Parker #6 measures 6 1/8" in length capped and 7 1/8" posted.

This Parker Taper Cap Fountain Pen is an Eyedropper Fill type. I have tested the filling system with water and works as it was originally intended to.

The Parker Taper Cap Fountain Pen has a No. 3 Nib with on Overfeed. Note that this pen does not have a LuckyCurve feed or imprint on the barrel which dates the pen to Circa 1897 - I believe the LuckyCurve Feed was introduced in 1898. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .71mm when measured with digital calipers - a medium nib point. I did not create a writing sample with this pen only because I believe this pen has never been inked and I wanted provide the new owner with this example uninked.

This Parker Taper Cap Fountain Pen is in incredible condition - I have never seen a more perfect example. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in MINT condition. If you are a collector of these types of Taper Cap Fountain Pens then I would care to guess you will be very pleased with this one in terms of condition and rarity. Finding one of these early Parker Taper Cap are extremely scarce to add to one's writing arsenal collection and a true collector's item.
