For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1920s William S. Hicks Made for Tiffany & Co Combination Fountain Pen/Pencil in Solid 14K Yellow Gold. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. William S. Hicks was known to create high-quality fountain pens for Tiffany & Co. and other high-end retailers during this era.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old rubber bulb/sac with a new bulb/sac. Hand polished the 14K Gold Cap, Clip, and Barrel along with the 14K Semi-Flexible NIB.

This combination fountain pen/pencil is made of 14K Solid Gold. The 14K overlay has a smooth design. The backside of the cap is stamped with, "TIFFANY & CO 14K".

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The 14K overlay looks beautiful that displays normal use wear and scratching - I point out for clarity sake that on the barrel is one tiny ding and the cap has two very minor dings. This Combination Fountain Pen/Pencil measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 5 3/4" posted.

The fountain pen filling system has what is known as a Bulb Filling System. This bulb filling unit is a simple filling solution, just squeeze the bulb and release and the ink will draw up into the reservoir. The filling system works as it is designed to.

The pencil is working by rotating the cone to propel and repel the lead.

The NIB is a 14K Made in U.S.A. and is stamped, "W.S. Hicks & Sons 14K". This writing instrument is fun to write with and provides the user with an exceptional writing experience. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K NIB, it measured at a medium point of .80mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .49mm on the horizontaL strokes and flexes up to double broad stroke of approximately 1.31mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

These William S. Hicks Fountain Pens are uncommon - his pens catered to the high-end retailers, namely Tiffany & Co., during the 1910s through the 1930s and are sought out today. I would grade this Hicks in Very Fine to Excellent Condition and is a collector grade. A superb writing instrument to add to your writing arsenal collection!
