For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Scarce Circa 1924 DUNN Oversize Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with the Red Casein Pump Handle. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. The Dunn Fountain Pen Company started business in 1921 and closed down in May of 1924. Dunn was known for producing high-quality pump-fillers.

This Dunn Oversize Fountain Pen is made of hard rubber in the smooth Black ebonite or hard rubber. The coloring is consistent throughout the cap and barrel displaying a deep black coloring. This Dunn has the Gold Filled Clip that is in excellent condition with only the side of the ball on the clip displaying any wear. I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil and cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. The fountain barrel has an excellent imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "DUNN PEN NEW YORK PATENTED NOV 23, 1920". The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. The Red Casein Pump Handle displays crazing and staining but is original to the pen. This Oversize Dunn Fountain Pen is the Camel model and measures 5 15/16" in length capped and 7 1/8" posted.

This Dunn Fountain Pen has a Pump Filler filling system. Originally, the barrel end had Cork but I restored the filling system with rubber o-rings to prolong the filling system for many years of use. I have cleaned and greased the filling system where the rod will move up and down smoothly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should after 8 to 11 pump strokes. It certainly holds an enormous amount of liquid without questions.

The NIB on this Dunn is a 14K Manifold DUNN New York Nib. When measuring the actual iridium tip of the NIB, it measures at .90mm when measured with digital calipers, a Medium point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a Medium line measuring roughly .60mm with very light pressure on the horizontal strokes and .90mm with medium pressure on downward strokes when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

This antique Dunn Black Hard Rubber Fountain Pen is very scarce due to the size and condition. I would grade this fountain pen in Excellent Condition. This Dunn Fountain Pen great example and worthy of the Black Pen Society. This Dunn Oversized Camel Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition or add it to your writing arsenal collection.
