For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1931 Parker Flattop Senior Duofold Fountain Pen in Jade. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and cap. Replaced the old sac with a new silicone sac so I could preserve the color. Hand polished the Gold Filled Parker Clip, Double Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Duofold NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, blind cap and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 7/8" posted.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PARKER PAT. SEP. 5-16 stamped and has been polished to shine brightly - there is slight wear on the ball of the clip. The double ring cap banding displays rich gold filled color that displays no wear. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER DUOFOLD MADE IN U.S.A. with Date code 31 for 1931 in the 2nd Quarter". NOTE: The Flat top was discontinued in 1929 when they moved over to the Streamline version so this particular fountain pen was most likely a closeout due to the 1931 date code on the pen from leftover inventory. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel are really clean with light discoloration - significantly less than most model that I have seen in this color.
This Duofold is a Button Filler and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended.
The Parker NIB is 14K with a PARKER DUOFOLD PEN imprint. I cannot stress this enough - the nib on this pen writes very smooth. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a broad point measuring roughly .85mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine/medium to medium/broad broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine/medium line measures at .54mm on the horizontal strokes and the medium/broad line measures at .95mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
This is an Iconic vintage Parker Duofold Fountain Pen in the Senior size and is a very nice example from Parker that has a smooth writing nib. I would consider this Parker grade in Very Fine Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
