Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the Sterling Waterman Cap & Clip, Barrel, and Lever Box Assembly along with the Ideal 14K #2 NIB. This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with Sterling Silver Overlay. The sterling silver overlay is known as a basket weave pattern. The hard rubber portion of the pen displays a deep black color with no oxidation. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no personalizations or monograms either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman Lady Patricia measures 4 1/4" in length capped and 5 3/8" posted.
The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully.
This Waterman 14K Ideal nib has some great flexibility all while writing smoothly. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal #2 NIB, it measures at .72mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra-fine line measuring roughly .41mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a double broad stroke of 1.75mm with a firm to medium pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. This nib writes smoothly with a wet line. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
This vintage Waterman Lady Patricia Fountain Pen is very uncommon to acquire especially in this type of condition. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to be excellent with less than normal usage. A fantastic collector grade addition to your writing arsenal collection.
