Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1935 Eversharp Doric Fountain Pen in the Burma Pearl celluloid with scarce #7 Adjustable Nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. This fountain pen has vibrant coloring with bright, clean trim.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, Silicone sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever Box assembly along with the #7 Eversharp Adjustable NIB. The Eversharp Gold Filled trim has been polished brightly - the gold fill wear is minimal. This Eversharp Doric Fountain Pen is a standard size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. This fountain pen is made of celluloid in the pattern known as Burma Pearl (gray and pearl). The coloring displays consistently and is just classic celluloid for this Art Deco period. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the celluloid. The cap has an imprint at the top that reads, "EVERSHARP MADE IN U.S.A ".

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. In my tests with water, the filling system works flawlessly.

This is the fun part - this Eversharp has a 14K Adjustable #7 Nib that has great flexibility all while writing smoothly. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K NIB, it measures with a fine point of .58mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra-fine line measuring roughly .35mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a triple broad of 1.96mm with medium to firm pressure; I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The Nib is a pleasure to write with and does so smoothly. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

I would have to express this Eversharp Doric Burma Pearl color is spectacular and very vibrant. This fountain pen is in ready to write condition. I would consider the condition of this fountain in Very Fine to Excellent condition. Certainly, a collector grade writing instrument to add to one's writing arsenal collection.
