For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1935 Sheaffer Oversize Balance Fountain Pen in the Ebonite Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the Gold Filling Sheaffer Clip, Cap Banding, and 14K Gold NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. The color of the pearl is spectacular with gorgeous color and fire in those ebonite chips.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with Gold Plated Clip. The Clip does display some light wear. The cap banding is displaying some minor wear along the lower edge of the banding. The Gold Filled Lever is in excellent condition with only light wear to the edging of the lever arm. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. FORT MADISON, IOWA U.S.A. PAT.D-70795". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Oversized Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

I have restored and tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system works as it was originally intended to.

This Sheaffer has the LIFETIME 14K NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .81mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with an extra-fine to medium stroke/line that varies between .38mm to .77mm when measured with digital calipers. The nib has been worked on to perform more smoothly when writing. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a very Rare Oversize Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen in the Ebonite Pearl Celluloid that would grade in Excellent Condition. The coloring of the barrel and cap are in such immaculate condition and will be a prize for the new owner. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
