I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the old packing unit with new, added a new plunger gasket, and new stainless plunger rod. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Gold Filled Cap Banding and 14K Gold 2-Tone Triumph NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with a gorgeous Gold Filled Clip that displays no gold fill loss and polished to shine brightly. The smooth Gold Filled Cap Banding displays a bright color with no gold fill loss. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. FORT MADISON, IOWA, U.S.A. MADE IN U.S.A.". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Sheaffer Triumph Fountain Pen measures 5" in length capped and 5 3/4" posted.
Amongst the numerous structural and style tweaks done from 1946-1949 on these Sheaffer Triumph models, this one is a recognized but with a less common variant. Most pens have transparency either at the entire barrel or partially on the gripping section. This one has it on the partial gripping section. It is an interesting feature of this model.
I have tested the plunger filling mechanism with water and fills and dispenses as it should. The Plunger Filling System works excellent and holds an enormous amount of ink. The Plunger Fill system has been restored with a new packing unit, plunger rod, and plunger gasket. The plunger rod has been greased to operate smoothly and operates as it was originally intended to.
This Sheaffer has the gorgeous Two-toned wraparound Triumph 14K NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .67mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to medium stroke/line measuring between .59mm to very light pressure to .70mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib writes very smoothly, a real pleasure to write with. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a fantastic Sheaffer Triumph Statesman Fountain Pen in the Golden Brown Celluloid that would grade in Excellent Condition. This Sheaffer has gorgeous celluloid with Excellent bright trim that has not been worn - hard to find pens like this clean! Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and this fine writing instrument is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
