For your consideration, we are offering for sale this exquisite 2003 Caran d'Ache Gotica Limited Edition 69 of 1194 Fountain Pen in Sterling Silver with Enameling decoration fitted with an 18K Medium nib. This fountain pen is in Mint, Never Inked Condition - considered New Old Stock with all the original boxes and documentation/literature.

This Limited edition “Gotica” fountain pen is from Caran d’Ache’s “Private Collection”. It is a miniaturized tribute to Gothic art and architecture. The “Gotica” fountain pen has a six-sided rhodium-coated sterling silver body and cap. Drawing on the heritage of Gothic art, each panel is handcrafted with inlaid enamel into sterling silver. Finished with rhodium, the Gotica displays a stunning array of fleur-de-lis, rose windows, and Gothic motifs in brilliant colors. Presented in a finely lacquered teak case, the Gotica is a true work of art that should be passed on from generation to generation. The edition is limited to 1140 pieces, this one is an earlier piece numbered 69.

The pen is in perfect condition with it never being used. The cap and barrel have extremely detailed Sterling Silver and Enameled overlay that are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. On the lower end of the barrel, it is stamped with "CARAN d'ACHE 69/1140 and Ag925". I want to be very clear that this fountain pen is very large and measures 6 5/8" inches capped - the pen does not post. The pen weighs a whopping 5.65 ounces, it is the heaviest pen I ever held.

The fountain pen uses an ink converter filling system. I have tested the piston filler with water and works as it is designed.

The 18K Gold nib is designated "MEDIUM" and displays the "Caran d'Ache logo and 18K/750" on the nib. The iridium tipping measures .78mm when measuring with digital calipers, which falls into the range of Medium the nib is designated. This fountain pen has never been inked and wanted to leave it that way for the next collector.

This fountain pen comes in the original Caran d'Ache factory boxes, with the inner box being gorgeous polished teak. The fountain pen comes with all the literature and warranty card booklets.

Incredible pen! A standout in any collection, this is my first Caran d’Ache and arguably one of the greats in the Maison’s extensive limited edition portfolio. The lacquer’s emulation of the glow of stained glass must be seen to be believed, and both the pen’s substantial size and considerable heft are impressive. As always, Greg delivered exactly what was promised, from the pristine two-decade old original packaging to the flawless mirror-polish rhodium-coating of the pen’s sterling silver corpus. An unforgettable acquisition.
