Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1920 Parker 4½ Jack-Knife Safety in Black Chased Hard Rubber. Has the button-filler, gold filled trim with #4 Lucky Curve Nib.

This is one pen from my personal collection. The pen is in the condition when I purchased it over 8 years ago. The condition is Excellent to Near Mint condition.

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine brightly with absolutely no brassing. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped (a little light on the Lucky Curve Logo) with, "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN LUCKY CURVE PAT 1-9--94-6-28-98 1-2-05-6-6-05-4-25-11". The blind cap has the appropriately marked 4 1/2 imprint. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display absolutely wonderful deep black color with great chasing detail. This Parker 4 1/2 measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 5/8" posted.

I have added a silicone rubber sac to this Parker. This Parker has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to.

The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER LUCKY CURVE PEN 4". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .45mm and the double broad line measures at 1.21mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

NOTE: The Nib on this Duofold writes "buttery smooth". It is truly amazing writing experience. I have handled 1000s of pens and the smoothness this nib creates when writing has to rank in the top 10-20 pens that I have ever handled.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is Parker Jack Knife Safety 4 1/2 is of simple design. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Excellent+ Condition and boarding on Near Mint Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a great addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
