For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1935 Conklin Nozac 5M Word Gauge Fountain Pen in the Striped Red Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful operating and writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside and outside of the cap and barrel. Hand polished the Gold Filled Conklin Rocker Clip, Cap Banding and 14K Conklin Toledo NIB. There is no brassing to any of the gold filled trim areas. I have cleaned, buffed, polished, and waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Conklin Nozac measures 5 1/4" capped and 6" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap and barrel have amazing, vibrant color with no darkening. The barrel transparency is water clear and can easily be seen through. The barrel is stamped clearly and crisply with, "THE CONKLIN PEN CO TOLEDO OHIO. U.S.A. NOZAC D-.84394 REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." Additionally, the word gauge imprints are also crisp and clear ranging from 1M to 5M. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

Installed are new rubber o-rings that replaced the broken-down and deteriorated original cork seal. The pen has been disassembled, cleaned and inspected for any defects before reassembling. The piston filling system is now working as it was originally intended to. I have tested the filling mechanism with water to fills and empty as it was originally designed to. Lastly, the end of the piston knob has the imprints of "FILL" and "EMPTY" clearly marked.

The 14K Conklin Toledo NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .69mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing with the nib in this pen, the nib provides a smooth writing experience. In the writing sample provided, the nib writes with a fine line measuring roughly .45mm to a broad/double broad line which measures roughly 1.24mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample in this listing was completed with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Conklin Nozac 5M Word Gauge is in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. The imprints are strong, the color is vibrant, working piston filling mechanism, and has a smooth writing nib - everything a collector wants in this type of model. I would consider this a collector grade Nozac that should be cherished in a deserving collection.
