For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored Circa 1938 Sheaffer Balance Admiral Fountain Pen in Striated Green Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac and replaced with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding, Lever, and 14K FeatherTouch NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, polished, and waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. The trim is super clean along with the celluloid - near mint in my opinion.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has Golden Filled Clip, Cap Banding, and lever all of which are clean and bright. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Patented in U.S.A. 500". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen is a Long Standard size that measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted. I have to point out that the celluloid is exceptionally clean with it looking nearly in new condition.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lever Filling System works excellent, as it was originally intended to.

This Sheaffer has the FeatherTouch #5 14K NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer FeatherTouch NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .72mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with an extra fine stroke measuring at .35mm on the horizontal strokes and will flex up to a medium .83mm stroke with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Sheaffer Balance Admiral Fountain Pen is in magnificent condition and would grade it at Excellent to Near Mint. The gold filled trim and this celluloid display impeccably. Certainly, one of the best Sheaffer Balances I have had in recent years in terms of condition. This is collector worthy and a super addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
