Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Near Mint Condition Circa 1942 Parker Azure Blue Pearl Celluloid Debutante Fountain Pen fitted with a 14K smooth writing nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in great writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and breather tube. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I hand-polished the gold-filled Parker Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, and 14K Split Arrow NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the "Blue Diamond" arrow gold-filled clip and is in perfect condition with no brassing or wear. The chevron banding is in excellent condition with no brassing or wear. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT.- there is no date code". COLLECTOR ALERT: The transparency of the barrel is WATER CLEAR, just like it left the factory. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This fountain pen is the Debutante size and measures 4 7/8" inches capped and 5 3/8" inches posted.

This is considered a 3rd generation Parker Vacumatic. We know this fountain pen was manufactured sometime between 1942 and 1948 because of the single jewel and plastic filler unit. The lack of date codes does not allow me to pinpoint the year and quarter only to the 1942 to 1948 time frame.

The Vacumatic Filling System has been restored and now works great, typically in my tests with water about 9-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow Medium Point NIB with the iridium point measuring roughly .63mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with a fine to medium line variation. The line/stroke measures between .54mm with light pressure and will flex to .82mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen that displays in near-perfect condition with a highly visulated/water-clear barrel. I grade this Parker Vac in Near Mint Condition. This Vacumatic is a collector-grade type but is ready to write with if you choose to do so.
