Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Late 1920s / Early 1930s Ford's Lapis & Bronze celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. The celluloid on this pen is stunning with beautiful blue and sparkling bronzes.

Ford's Fountain Pens were produced by the man Ford Cromer, the founder and owner of the Artcraft Pen Company. The Ford's line was a sub-brand of Artcraft. The Artcraft Pen Company was a pen company from Birmingham, Alabama and in business from about 1920 to 1934.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old sac with a new, silicone one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Ford's Clip, Cap Banding, Lever, and 14K Warranted NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Ford's Fountain Pen is a smaller size that measures 5" capped and 6" posted. The barrel diameter is 5.15mm.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a Gold Filled Clip with "FORD'S" stamped into the clip. The clip is starting to show some light wear. The cap banding is excellent displaying no wear. The lever is excellent as well showing no wear.I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The sac is a smaller 15 size so it does not hold an enormous amount of ink.

This Ford's Fountain Pen has the 14K Warranted NIB which writes extremely smooth.  The nib has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Medium to Double Broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .68mm (with light pressure), and the double broad stroke measures at 1.28mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was completed by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.

This vintage Ford's Fountain Pen in the Lapis & Bronze celluloid has vibrant coloring that is in Excellent Condition. Additionally, the unique design is also eye catching. This is a really unique fountain pen is ready to write with or add to your writing arsenal collection.
