RARE 1937 PARKER SENIOR MAXIMA PARKER VACUMATIC CAP BAND FOUNTAIN PEN RESTORED

$1,700.00
For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Rare and Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Golden Pearl Celluloid with the PARKER VACUMATIC cap banding. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Parker Vacumatic Gold Filled Cap Banding, 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Golden Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant Golden Pearl color. The cap has the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip that does display a hint of brassing at the very top of the clip just above the arrow feathers. The PARKER VACUMATIC gold filled cap banding displays crisp letter and displays no brassing or wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter". The barrel transparency is fantastic, a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

The rarity of this pen lies in the Parker Vacumatic imprinted cap banding. These Parker Vacumatic cap band fountain pens were only produced for a few quarters in 1937 during Q2 through Q4. These Parker Vacumatic Cap Bands are considered extremely rare and coveted by collectors and rarely come up for sale. This is the only Parker Vacumatic Cap Band I have ever had on my site for clients to purchases in over 3 years and handling over several thousand pens.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 15-18 presses to fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic 2-Tone NIB is 14K Gold with platinum plating that is nearly all intact - extremely hard to find nibs of this sort in this condition. The Nib has a medium point that measures .60mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .47mm to .87mm when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes very smooth, such a pleasure to write with. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker Golden Pearl Senior Maxima Fountain Pen with Parker Vacumatic Cap Banding is as good as it can get - the celluloid is vibrant and looks incredible, has the striped jewels, striped section, the barrel has excellent transparency, and it is a Senior Maxima with the uber-rare Parker Vacumatic Cap banding. I would consider this Maxima to easily grade in Excellent+ Condition and will certainly be a treasured addition to your writing arsenal collection.
