For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Extremely Rare Pre-War Circa 1935 Sheaffer Standard Balance Demonstrator Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The color of the Demonstrator is a greenish-yellow and is period celluloid. I have hand cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Added a Silicone Sac. Hand polished the Gold Filling Sheaffer Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever.

The cap has the Sheaffer Gold Plated Clip that displays minor wear. The cap banding is displaying some minor wear along the lower edge of the banding - very minor and only point it out for clarity sake. The Gold Filled Lever is in excellent condition with no wear to the gold-filled material. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. FORT MADISON, IOWA U.S.A. PAT.D-70795". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This is a Sheaffer Standard Size Balance Fountain Pen that measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system works as it was originally intended to.

This Sheaffer has the proper 14K Feather Touch #5 NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .58mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke/line that varies between .55mm to .96mm when measured with digital calipers. The nib performs smoothly when writing. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This will be a Holy Grail Sheaffer Fountain Pen for the discerning collector. Those that follow vintage Sheaffer know that Pre-War Sheaffer Demonstrators are extremely scarce and this one is a Very Fine to Excellent Condition. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
