Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1924 Parker Senior Duofold Fountain Pen in Black Hard Rubber. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

The significance of this particular Parker Duofold, for those who do not know, is this pen being made from ebonite (hard rubber). As collectors of Parker Fountain Pens, finding Senior Duofold's made on hard rubber are fairly uncommon and desirable to add to one's collection.

The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine brightly with absolutely no brassing. The cap banding is the "raised type" making it an early cap - the lower half of the cap banding does display some wear but has been polished to shine brightly once again! The barrel is stamped, albeit lightly with, "Large DUOFOLD imprint along with "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE WIS. U.S.A. LUCKY CURVE in Banner PAT 4-25-11". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display absolutely wonderful deep black color that is consistent between the two. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.

I have added a new rubber sac to this Senior Duofold. This Duofold has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN MADE IN U.S.A.". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .78mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .68mm with light pressure, and the broad line measures at 1.09mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-black Ink.

NOTE: The Nib on this Duofold writes "buttery smooth". It is a truly amazing writing experience. I have handled 1000s of pens and the smoothness this nib creates when writing has to rank in the top 25 pens that I have ever handled.

This is Parker Duofold is of simple design, yet, very significant due to it being hard rubber and within the first few years of production. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Very Fine Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a "grail" addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
