Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1920s Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with Pink Cap Band & NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly size, #16 silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Ideal Clip, 18K Gold Filled Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K PINK NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the red ripple design. The coloring is an amazing red and black color. The barrel has a very crisp imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE FOUNTAIN PEN RIPPLE". The lower portion of the barrel has an equally crisp imprint that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE FOUNTAIN PEN RIPPLE" and the butt end of the fountain pen has the 7 imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. The cap has the original PINK banding, which shows some crazing, but it is original to the cap. There are no monograms on the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman 7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever are crisp and clean with no brassing. The Waterman Ideal Clip has just a very tiny amount of brassing on the ball of the clip. The gold filled cap banding does not display any brassing.

Here is the "fun" part of this fountain pen. The NIB is the ever elusive Waterman PINK NIB. The NIB is in wonderful condition that writes so smooth. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Pink NIB, it measures at .64mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra fine line measuring roughly .44mm with very light pressure and flexes up to 2.9mm to 3.11mm with normal to medium pressure; I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain in near mint condition and certainly a Holy Grail collector grade writing instrument. One of the best fountain pens that I have in my collection.
