For your consideration we are offering for sale this Made in Canada Circa 1930s Waterman #3 Green & Red Quartz Celluloid Fountain Pen with Nickel Trim having a Stub Flex NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly size, #14 rubber sac. Hand polished the Nickel Single Cap Band, Nickel Clip and Nickel Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Ideal 14K #2 STUB NIB.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in a green & red quartz color. The coloring is excellent, maybe the barrel is a hint darker than the cap - but really good even color overall from the cap to the barrel. The barrel has a very crisp imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S MADE IN CANADA IDEAL GLOBE FOUNTAIN PEN". The cap has a crisp imprint that reads, "WATERMAN'S MADE IN CANADA". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp 3 imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms on the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid. This Waterman 3 measures 5" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal STUB NIB, it measured at 1.34mm with digital calipers.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The nickel plate lever has a hint of wear through, but you need to look closely.

The Stub NIB is terrific and writes so smoothly. The NIB on this pen really makes this fountain pen almost magical when writing and I cannot say enough about this NIB. When writing the sample in the listing image, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .55mm with very light pressure on the horizontal line strokes and flexes up to a triple broad stroke+ at 2.57mm (see image) with normal pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Canadian Waterman 3 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the wonderful flexible Stub NIB. I would say this fountain pen is in excellent condition and surely is a collector grade fine writing instrument. It is ready to write or to add to your fine writing instrument collection.
