For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1938 Onoto de La Rue Dark Red Marbled Fountain Pen, Model 5600, with Ink-View Window in the Original Box. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, barrel and NIB. I had professionally replaced the cork gasket on the plunger to a rubber one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Sunburst Ball Clip and Onoto 14ct #22 NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Onoto measures 5" capped and 6 3/16" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap displays the gold filled sunburst ball clip. The clip displays no brassing, it is in fantastic condition. The center of the barrel is stamped with, "Onoto The Pen De La Rue Ltd London" and on the end of the plunger knob are, "5600 & B4". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

I have tested the plunger filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly with excellent suction.

The Onoto NIB is 14CT, is a broad / stub type NIB and writes great. The actual writing portion of the 14CT Onoto NIB has a Broad point measuring roughly 1.15mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to triple broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .87mm and flexes to triple broad stroke line measuring 2.18mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Onoto de La Rue Fountain Pen is a gorgeous example of color and design. I would consider this Onoto to easily grade in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection. Certainly a collector grade type fountain pen.
