For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Early 1920s Waterman 52V Ringtop Red Cardinal Hard Rubber Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel, cap, and section with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new silicone sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Ring Top, Cap Band and Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Ideal New York 14K #2 NIB. The 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding displays some brassing along the top edge and the lever bar display some minor brassing. The feed is a triple spoon type feed in the cardinal red hard rubber.

This fountain pen is made from cardinal red hard rubber. The barrel has a bit of a worn imprint at the center and butt end, but can be seen with the Naked Eye that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG U.S. IDEAL GLOBE PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has the 52V imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There is a personalization on the barrel that reads, "MRS. S. VILLANO. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman 52V measures 4 1/2" in length capped and 5 5/8" posted.

This Waterman 52v has a 14K #2 New York Ideal Nib. The tip/point of the Nib/iridium has a medium point measuring .70mm when measured with digital calipers. The Nib has full flexibility from a fine (.49mm) to triple broad (1.91mm) stroke/line when measured with digital calipers. The Nib provides a very smooth writing experience that one should enjoy very much! The writing sample in the images was produced from the actual pen that is listed for sale by dipping the Nib in Parker Blue Quink Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

These Waterman Red Cardinal Hard Rubber Fountain Pens are increasingly difficult to find. This Waterman 52V would grade in Very Fine to Excellent condition (above average user grade) and a great entry level Waterman that is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
