Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1932 Carter's Pearltex Streamline Black & Pearl Fountain Pen with Flexible NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new, properly sized sac. Hand polished the gold-filled clip, cap, and barrel banding. Cleaned, Buffed, & Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. The black and pearl color is very consistent throughout the cap and barrel. This Carter's Fountain Pen measures 5 3/16" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap and barrel banding are in fabulous condition with no brassing. The "Carter's" Clip has very minor wear on the end of the clip ball and on the edging where "Carter's" is stamped - very minor but point it out for clarity sake. The gold-filled lever is clean with no wear. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Carter's INX NIB has the long tines that create a great writing experience and is 14K. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .50mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra-fine to triple broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the extra-fine line measures at .42mm and the triple broad measures at 1.85mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a great example of the Black & Pearl Celluloid that is an uncommon color to acquire. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1932 I would consider this Parker to easily grade in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is collector grade and is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
