Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1930s Carter's Streamlined Fountain Pen in this clean and scarce Coral Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition. The color is exceptional and this is one of the Holy Grail fountain pens for a Carter's collector.

I have cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the gold-filled Carter's rocker clip, lever arm, and 2-ring barrel banding. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Carter's Fountain Pen is a Streamline model that measures 5 3/8" inches capped and 6 3/8" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This Coral color is uncompromised and displays nearly like the day it left the factory - brilliant and clean coral coloring! The clip on the cap displays brightly with a tiny bit of wear on the ball area of the clip. The 2-Ring Cap Banding displays brightly as well with no gold-filled loss. The gold-filled lever is very clean, displays bright gold filled color and is free from any wear or brassing. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

This Carter's INX NIB is a 14K Nib and generates a great writing experience. The actual writing portion of the 14K Carter Inx NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .84mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Medium to Double Broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .75mm and the double broad measures 1.39mm when measured with digital calipers. The Carter Nib writes smoothly, a pleasure to write with. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

Carter was a well-known maker of fountain pen ink, but made fountain pens only for a few years, from the mid-1920s to around the early 1930s. It offered very high-quality pens, highly sought today by those who want top-tier pens by small makers.

This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a very clean and scarce example of the Streamline Coral pattern. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1932 I would consider this Carter to easily grade in Excellent Condition. It is a collector grade that one will rarely find the opportunity to own. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
