Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Scarce Circa 1932 Conklin Nozac Emerald V-Line or Herringbone pattern Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside and outside of the cap and barrel. Hand polished the Gold Filled Conklin Rocker Clip, Cap Banding and 14K Conklin NIB. The Rocker Clip does display a few very minor scratches at the very top of the clip but displays a bright gold filled color. The gold-filled cap banding displays no wear and has been polished to shine brightly. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Conklin Nozac is a Standard size model that measures 5 1/4" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap and barrel have amazing, vibrant Emerald coloring with no darkening. COLLECTOR ALERT: The barrel transparency is Water Clear. The faceted barrel and cap have 14 sides - this is not the 12 sided type. The barrel is stamped with, "THE CONKLIN PEN CO TOLEDO OHIO. U.S.A. REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." Additionally, there are no word gauge imprints nor were there any. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

Installed are new rubber o-rings that replaced the broken-down and deteriorated original cork seal. The pen has been disassembled, cleaned and inspected for any defects before reassembling. The piston filling system is now working as it was originally intended to. I have tested the filling mechanism with water to fills and empty as it was originally designed to. Lastly, the end of the piston knob has the imprints of "FILL" and "EMPTY" clearly marked.

The 14K Conklin Cushon Point NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .60mm when measured with digital calipers. In the writing sample provided, the nib writes with a fine line measuring roughly .53mm light pressure and will flex to a broad line which measures roughly .97mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample in this listing was completed with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Conklin Herringbone/V-Line Fountain Pen is an extremely desirable and difficult model to find in Emerald. I would consider this Conklin to grade in Excellent Condition. The imprints are strong, the color is vibrant, working piston filling mechanism, with great gold filled trim - everything a collector wants in this type of model. I would consider this a collector grade V Line/Herringbone Conklin that should be cherished in a deserving collection.
