Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked, Mint in the Box 1999 Writer's Series Montblanc Marcel Proust Fountain Pen Limited Edition 15394/21000. This pen comes with the original boxes and Montblanc International Service Documentation and Warranty card. The Montblanc is fitted with an 18K Medium (.82mm) nib.

This Montblanc Limited Edition Writers Series Edition is known as the Marcel Proust Fountain Pen. The trim is made of 925 sterling silver, as is the eight-sided barrel, which features fine engravings in the style typical of Proust’s main creative period. The hexagonal barrel also bears the engraved signature of the writer from which it takes its name. The top of the cap is surmounted by the ivory-colored Montblanc star. The 18K two-tone gold nib features the engraving of an hourglass, a reference to his greatest work, "À la recherche du temps perdu". The end of the fountain pen remains the original "Medium" nib sticker.

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The sterling silver trim is excellent and has been polished to shine brightly. The fountain pen measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 3/4" posted.

This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system and I have tested it with water and works as it was designed to. I cleaned the inside of the barrel and greased the piston for smooth operation. There was no ink inside the barrel when cleaning and this is how I came to the conclusion the pen had never been inked.

This fountain pen features an 18-karat two-tone nib with an hourglass engraving and clear markings. The nib is labeled "4810, 18K/750, Montblanc Logo, 1999, MONTBLANC" and is considered a MEDIUM point, measuring .82mm with digital calipers. The pen has never been used with ink to preserve its pristine condition for the next owner or collector. 

Accompanying this fountain pen is the original Montblanc box, outer storage factory box, International Service Certificate, Reply Card, and Limited Edition Booklet. This is a Limited Edition Montblanc with a production number of 15394 out of 21000.
