Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked, Mint in the Box 1999 Montblanc Patron of the Arts Series Friedrich II the Great Safety Fountain Pen Limited Edition 698 of 4810. This pen comes with the original inner and outer boxes and Montblanc literature. The Montblanc Safety Fountain Pen has never been inked and considered in Mint, New Old Stock Condition.

Friedrich the Great was anything but an ordinary king. He is a celebrated historical figure not only because he saw himself as the "first servant of the people" and because of his Prussian discipline, but also because under his rule art and culture underwent a revival. Sanssouci Palace became a magnet for intellectuals, artists, and writers from all over Europe. Frederick himself, together with his friend Voltaire, wrote numerous philosophical works, including the famous "Antimachiavelli".

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, wear, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The trim is perfect with no scratches or wear. The barrel retains the original "MEDIUM" foil sticker. The barrel and cap of the fountain pen feature two finely worked bands with a pattern of interconnecting arcs. The top edging of the cap has the Limited Edition numbering, "0698/4810, and MONTBLANC GERMANY" stamping. The fountain pen measures 4 1/2" capped and 5 1/2" posted with the nib extended. This Montblanc is a limited edition number, "0698 of 4810".

The end of the barrel will "flip open" and when you rotate the end cap an ink cartridge will become exposed. This is how you add ink cartridges to the pen.

The 18K/750 gold medium nib can be retracted by twisting the end of the barrel - like a safety pen. The medium nib is 18K gold which carries an engraving of the royal monogram of "Friedericus Rex". This nib is designated as MEDIUM and the point measures .88mm when using digital calipers. The nib is stamped with, "1999, 4810, Montblanc, Montblanc Logo, 18K 750". This fountain pen has never seen ink and I never attempted to ink it. I wanted to keep it in pristine condition for the new owner.

This Montblanc comes in the original Montblanc wooden lacquered box, outer storage factory boxes, and the Limited Edition Booklet.

This Montblanc Patron of the Arts Friedrich II the Great  Fountain Pen is a stunning and very elegant writing instrument that was crafted in Germany. This gorgeous Montblanc Fountain Pen has Never been inked and is considered in New Old Stock, Mint Condition. A marvelous addition to your writing arsenal collection and sure to be a pleasure to write with.
