Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Lovely Never Inked, Mint in the Box 2001 Montblanc Patron of the Arts Series Marquise de Pompadour Fountain Pen Limited Edition number 4332 of 4810 with Hand Painted Missen Porcelain cap. This pen has the original lacquered box, outer box, and Montblanc literature/service booklets.

This exquisite fountain pen is a Montblanc masterpiece that celebrates the legacy of the Marquise de Pompadour - an enchanting mistress of King Louis XIV. Known for her charisma and dedication to the king, she was a prominent figure at the Court of Versailles. The "rococo muse" was also a generous supporter of talented artists and musicians, including Voltaire and Mozart. The limited edition Patron of Art Marquise de Pompadour pays tribute to her remarkable contributions to history and the arts. As Louis XV's mistress, she was an avid patron of architecture and Meissen porcelain, making her an inspiring figure to be celebrated. This Montblanc is a limited edition and the number of this particular pen is "4332 of 4810".

This exquisite fountain pen features a renowned white Meissen porcelain cap, embellished with a sepia-toned rose - the beloved flower of the Marquise, and the iconic Meissen porcelain blue swords hallmark. The pen's barrel is elegantly plated with gold, complemented by matching trim and an 18K gold nib. Both the cap and barrel are flawlessly preserved, free from any cracks, chips, or porcelain damage. The cap securely fastens onto the barrel, ensuring optimal functionality. When capped, the fountain pen measures 5 3/8", and when posted, it extends to 6 1/2". The weight of the pen is a "hefty" 2.45 ounces - great weight in the hand.

This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system and I have tested it with water and works as it was designed to. I have cleaned the inside of the barrel and greased the piston for smooth operation. There were no signs of ink inside the barrel or the nib - this is how I came to the conclusion the fountain pen had never been inked.

This fountain pen features an 18K medium nib displaying a fine engraving, reminiscent of the Rococo style. The nib is labeled "2001 4810, 18K/750, Montblanc" and is considered a medium point, measuring .86mm with digital calipers. To preserve its pristine condition, I refrained from using ink in the pen, ensuring that the next owner will receive an exceptional writing experience.

This Montblanc comes in the original Montblanc wooden lacquered box, outer box, and the Montblanc Service Booklets.

This Montblanc Patron of the Arts Marquise de Pompadour Fountain Pen is a truly stunning and refined writing tool, skillfully created and designed in Germany. It is in impeccable condition and the delicate Messian porcelain cap makes for a splendid addition to any writing collection. I would classify this Montblanc Marquise de Pompadour Fountain Pen as in Mint, Never Inked, and New Old Stock condition. A spectacular writing instrument to add to your writing arsenal collection!
