Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1932 - 1933 Parker Burgundy Pearl Celluloid Double Jewel Vacuum Filler Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Clip, Gold Filled Two Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Two-Tone NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished & Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and clarity and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen.

Parker Vacuum-Fillers are considered to have been manufactured approximately 7 months which lead to the eventual manufacturing of Vacumatic, proper, in July 1933. Parker Fountain Pens marked "Vacuum-Filler" are scarce/rare fountain pens within the Parker Vacumatic genre. This middle size pen, the first Vacuum-Filler illustrated in ads (March 1933), has what would be high -line features in later Vacumatic pens- striped barrel, striped section, and jewels.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. NOTE: The section and barrel are one piece. The cap has the Feather Clip and the Double Cap Bands that display great gold-filled color. The Clip tassel area displays a minor amount of brassing on the lower edges - very minor brassing but want to be transparent and point it out. The top and bottom jewels are striped and have been polished to a lustrous shine. The barrel is stamped faintly with, "GEO S. PARKER PARKER VACUUMFILLER MADE IN USA PAT.". The jeweled blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacuum Filler Fountain Pen would be considered the "middle size" model that would be similar to the junior size pens for Vacumatic proper. It measures 4 7/8" in length capped and 5 7/8" posted. This pen has great color, clean clip, cap-bands, and bottom tassie ring.

This Vacuum Filler has the correct lock down filling unit that was used in these production models. The Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 presses and it will fill full. This filling unit has been greased and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly.

This Parker has the 14K U.S.A. Parker Split Arrow NIB. This NIB has a STUB point measuring roughly 1.01mm when measured with digital calipers and will write with a wet line. The Nib is the two-type type but shows some platinum plating loss from the years of polishing. When writing a sample this NIB writes with a fine line to double broad/triple broad stroke. The writing sample provided in the image has the fine stroke that measures .45mm and can flex to a double/triple stroke of roughly 1.78mm with medium pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

If you collect Parker Vacumatics then you know how hard it is to find a Vacuum Filler in the Burgundy Pearl with a Stub NIB. I would grade this Parker Vacuum Filler Excellent Condition - I would grade it near mint if the barrel imprint was crisper. This is a collector-worthy Parker Vacuum Filler with remarkably clean trim that is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
