Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored First Year Production 1941 Parker 51 Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Cedar Blue Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, cap, barrel, and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the 1/10 16K Gold Filled Cap, Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap, and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, blind cap and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Gold Filled Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The Gold Filled Cap is lined with 9 Clusters of parrel lines and has a simple Deco Banding at the lip. The cap is clearly stamped with, "1/10 16K GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.". The cap has no dings and very little light scratches, way below average considering the age of the cap. The blind cap and Gold Filled cap have the aluminum jewels; the bottom is a bit "dinged" (see image), but the top is in excellent condition. The blind cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER MADE IN USA with the date code 1 (for 1941) in the 3rd Quarter". There are no stress marks or cracks on the barrel, hood or blind cap. The clutch ring still retains displays some of the gold plating.

I have tested the Vacumatic Speedline Filling Mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 6 to 9 presses. I have greased the Speedline pump and now operates as it was intended to and very smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and writes extremely smooth! The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .81mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke. In the writing sample provided, the fine/medium line measures at .56mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a first-year production pen and is one for the collector cabinet. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.

NOTE: There is no blind cap/barrel/hood discoloration - the reflection of the camera body may give the appearance the color is not matching, but I will assure the color is matching across the pen hood, barrel, and blind cap.
