1939 PARKER VACUMATIC GOLDEN PEARL SR MAXIMA STAR CLIP FOUNTAIN PEN RESTORED

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1939 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Star Clip Fountain Pen in the Golden Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

NOTE: This Star Clip was Parker's attempt at a lifetime guarantee symbol, one that didn't last before being announced publicly, replaced by what we know as the Blue Diamond which was more prominent. This took place in late 1938. Also, well-known are Star Clips turn up on Vacs that never was intended to be a high line fountain pens, such as the Maxima. In theory, Parker had leftover Star Clips and since Parker made no public pronouncement about their significance (compared to the Blue Diamond clips, the Star Clips did not officially mean pens that had a lifetime warranty), Parker blew out leftovers on pens that would not receive the Blue Diamond Clip/Lifetime Warranty. Star clips are relatively uncommon, especially on Maximas.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Star Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing to the barrel. The Golden Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant Golden Peal color. The cap has the Star Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding. The top of the clip shows some very minor wear as does the tassie - no brassing just some minor wear. The cap banding displays no wear. The Star Clip is uncommon and especially on Senior Maximas - the Star clip was the "Lifetime" guarantee symbol before the Blue Diamond eventually took its place. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 9 (for 1939) in the First Quarter". The barrel transparency is fantastic, a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with medium ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill nearly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic NIB is 14K Gold with a medium point that measures .65mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .44mm to .86mm with firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes smoothly. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This Parker Golden Pearl Senior Maxima Fountain Pen doesn't get much better, this Parker Vac Maxima has all the high-line features - the celluloid is vibrant and looks incredible, has the striped jewels, striped section, the barrel has excellent clear transparency, and has the scarce Star clip. I would consider this Maxima to be in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
